Clay Simonson
I am an honors student at the University of Wisconsin Stout.

The most important thing about my professional and personal life are the people. As an Industrial Designer, my priorities are the team I work with and the people I design for.

The most important skill I practice is being a good listener. Most of the problems in this world come from a lack of understanding of people and systems from unfamiliar contexts. Listening and observing are the starting points of change. Only a good listener can know the right direction to lead when it is time for change.

My work was chosen in the RIO Brands Beach Furniture Competition and was pitched to Costco. My design took two years to produce, and Costco and Amazon are currently selling my beach chair. I designed a beach chair that stemmed from understanding what a brand will need in the future while providing a utility patentable concept.
